Yes, these are not the things I usually associate with trail work either!

We joined Peter and Becky, and their 10-month old Finnigan, at the Ploutz Road trailhead, and did a quick car spot over to BLM parking lot. From here, Peter donned the baby carrier, and the rest of us got ready to do the 'light' work of clearing the trails. There was no snow until about 3000', but then it varied from a dusting to 2-3" along the ridge line. Having the baby and doing trail work was a little slow, and I broke out the hand warmers for the first time this season. The trails were in ok shape, because both couples attack these trails a few times a year, but there were plenty of briers and small saplings to take care of, along with a few heavy weights that we sawed out of the way. Having 4 people on a tail crew was nice. We could move along faster, and there were at least 3 pairs of arms for lifting large objects out of the trail. Peter and Becky switched off carrying the baby, and still made good time.

The mileage stated was about 6, according to Peter's hand lettered signs. This ended up taking almost 6 hours, but we finished the day knowing that the trails and the lean-to were in fine shape! :)
