Date of Hike: 06-JAN-08
Trail Conditions: Lower section from 302 is fine with several small water crossings posing no problems. There are a handful of tall-person-nightmare blowdowns on the narrow upper stretch between the birch grove and the summit.
Special Equipment Required: Snowshoes & poles very handy.
Comments: Followed a recent set of ski tracks along the bottom half of the trail, then broke out the upper stretch beyond the gorge. The hike was a bit tougher than anticipated partially because of its steepness and the tons of water that came pouring/falling/melting/cascading off trees on this warm day. Great views of Chocorua, the Captain, and Carrigain Notch from the summit.
