Tres_dogger hits Appalachian Trail in NY, West Mntn: Harriman State Park
OK, for a day I was the Tres_dogger, having taken a great hike yesterday over West Mntn in Harriman State Park NY with my own two dogs and a friend and her dog.
Not a biggie in terms of elevation, but a grand hike on the AT along an exposed ridgeline and a great kickoff to spring!!! A new-to-hiking friend and her dog joined us on a 6 mile loop.
It was the longest hike to date for my boy, Orca the Killer Whale, an 8 mo old black tri Aussie; and he was in heaven. Terra Firma is a good big sister and showed him the ropes.
Three dogs were on our hike, and so yesterday, I was the Tres_dogger.
A relatively easy climb then open ridge walking, returning over some rocky shoulders to a much appreciated and foregiving cross country ski trail.
