The kayak club I joined is having a meeting at http://www.dinghyshop.com/

They are having a program involving these guys going on a 300+ mile trip which involves a 50 mile portage..I just thought you guys would like this wild stuff...If your going to be near Long Island on Feb 16th call up the Dingy shop and register to sit in..I'm in charge of snacks..

Guess the whole thing is over my head.
I have met people before who have paddled down to Ny before. As did some 1st nation people who paddled down from Quebec to bring attention to the flooding of their lands due to the massive hydro Quebec projects up there.

so what part don't I understand..is it the Long Island thing ?...I better check a map....

Ummm, i'm confused also...if you clicked on the link they show you the route they are taking....they are paddling around the Canadian Artic....not coming down here...

click on the link to see what they are doing...

ok

thanks .. I got it now.... the 2nd link does the trick.
The 1st link goes to the the "Dinghy Shop"...which I thought was a dead end.
The 2nd link I just kind of blew off thinking it was one of those links that people put under their names which I never look at.

My mistake, I should have slowed down for a closer look...
A thousand pardons. I'm bound to get the hang of this computer stuff some day....

I didn't even look at the link, I just thought I'd make a funny! David, you know my sence (nonsence sometimes!) of humor. I was going to reply with Columbus sailed the ocean blue in 1492...for spices?! I AIN'T doin' that either!!! Plus it's all up hill from here... right?

Tony, I got your funny!......I'm going to check for a link that I think you'd find very interesting about fishing...give me some time...how's Nicole's list doing?

Hey David thanks for the link. I'm definately checking this one out for a while. My son used to catch big blues in the ocean...pulled him around pretty good!...Nicole needs 14 winter peaks yet. With school projects on some weekends, I'm not sure if she's finishing this year or not... Now that I have two boats, she can go with me on the water too!

Jay, your unbelievable....I also read about last years trip from hell in one of the kayak magazines this or last month....

One of my uncles(95) used to talk about his father taking a freighter canoe(big one) from Northern Lake Champlain to a LI Bay with his grandfather as a yearly event back in the old days, which was before the Thruway or maybe even before the wheel was invented. Wish I had paid better attention.
