Fortunately for us, we stayed up over the weekend and were able to avoid all the snow that fell farther south.
Saturday's hike started with extremely cold temps (-10 driving to the trailhead), but Sunday's were far kinder, and never dipped below the 20s. We got to the Pine Bend Brook trailhead on the Kanc around 7:30am, and there was only one other truck there.
The trail was in really condition, and the stream crossings all looked solid and didn't given the eight of us on this AMC hike any difficulty. Basically no winds until we hit the ridgeline, and even then it was only a light (but quite chilly) breeze.
Only saw two other hikers, both solo. One was the gent who maintains the Grid website, hiking with his dog.
The trails are nicely packed down. We were able to them without difficulty in snow shoes.
