Peaks: North and Middle Tripyramid
Trails: Sabbaday Brook, bushwhack, and Tripyramid Loop

Conditions: Packed snow on almost the entire route (few bare spots). Some post-holing at lower elevations by moose, including one area where it appeared that two moose had had an amorous encounter. Lower ice bridges are gone, and lower brook crossings are somewhat challenging. Up to 3-4 feet of snow depth at elevation. Quite icy on the steeps. Numerous blowdowns and bent over trees throughout.

Equipment: Full crampons and poles a must. (If you don't believe me, see the report about the people who did not make it up Adams in microspikes.) As things soften up you could try snowshoes; but it might be better to simply stay off the trail for a while unless we get another cold snap.

Comments: I opted for a one mile bushwhack on the way in to avoid brook crossings until finding an ice bridge and rejoining the trail at about 1.7 miles in (where the trail enters the Sandwich Range Wilderness). Morning temperatures were cold enough that there was packed crust. On the return we did a shorter (tenth of a mile) bushwhack, avoiding just the lowermost two crossings of Sabbaday Brook. Even so, the dogs were not thrilled with the one lower crossing we did.
