Date of hike: Wednesday September 19, 2012
Trail condition: There had been a big rain storm the previous day, and Sabbaday Brook was at high water. The Falls was impressive. The multiple water crossings were very difficult, bordering on not doable. We bushwacked up the west side of the brook for about 2 miles trying to find a safe place to cross the brook. Eventually took off boots and pants and waded across, but the stream was still very forceful. 3 other stream crossings could be made via fallen trees, but even upstream there was significant volume in the brook. Very steep hike to the col. When we hiked back down we did the 3 tree crossings of the brook, but finally gave in and just waded with full hiking boots in the crossings of the lower sections of the trail. Strong current wants to push you.
