Tues. Nov.10 Madison via Valley Way no ice
I had hoped that the near-record temperatures for a couple days would melt all the snow and rime ice reported by BE, and I was right. The trail was mostly dry with the wet spots being liquid, with only tiny spots of snow and ice higher up. The wind wasn't gusty but the intensity varied from being glad for a down parka to sweating in it. On the way down, leaves in the trail in the hardwoods hid rocks but mostly I stumbled over hidden waterbars - finally took Beechwood Way to Air Line where somebody had raked them (thanks!).
Saw no other hikers all day. Only one car in Appalachia parking lot when I arrived and only mine when I returned - amazing for such fine weather.
