Is camping permitted at the site of the former Twin Brook Lean-To?? We are looking to shorten a possible round-trip from Flowed Land to Allen.

The former lean-to site and all surrounding private lands are posted "no camping". The only camping options are on state owned lands along the trail to Flowed Lands, or along the designated herd path to Allen after it reaches state land. I was able to find a bivouac site along and off the Allen herd path on state land, near the height of land. I would not call it a real campsite though, the woods are real thick. (edit) My bivouac was pre-Floyd and the forest is much thicker now.

Earlier I described a Cliff-Redfield-Allen trip (sept 2005) which routed from Flowed Lands down the Opalescent to the Twin Brook area.
To repeat: Unless somebody's since been down through there with a saw, you should be prepared to belly-crawl under fallen trees; also, streamline your pack shape/exterior as best you can, or broken branch snags / rips / hangups will further complicate your turtlings.

Don't forget to take the side trail for Hanging Spear Falls (NICE high view from down-valley). Check out Mt Adams while you're there: I wish we'd had time to.

Thanks for the responses. I figured as much, but was hopeful. Just looking to reduce my number of trips to NY to complete the 115 (5 left). Looks like 3 trips left. Oh well!!
