Me and Skimom headed up Dicey Mill Trail around 10:40, 113 getting there was atrocious..few inches of mushy snow on the road and it hadnt snowed in a couple days, a car smashed into a phone pole. I think yesterday's Garfield trip killed me, cause my legs were like lead and I was breathing hard and its not that steep. It was cold out but warmed up quickly. We made it up to the junction with Rollins. Skimom needed whiteface but had done Passaconaway so we headed over to whiteface. LOT of up and down on this ridge. beautiful day with glimpses of nice views off the ridge. We took 4 hours to get up to summit, then headed back. I seemed to get a second wind on the way back, but decided not to do Passaconaway at the junction, my third try in winter stymied. I got even though, I shook my fist at it. We got out at 5:30. The digital camera in my pack had the switch on which killed the battery, or I'd have had some pictures. Maybe Passaconaway would be a nice one to finish my winter 4000 footers on, I have four left now. It was a good week off. I wanted to go up Moosilaukee but my legs are pretty beat. I'll have to see how I feel for this weekend.

Hikerfast,

Rollins trail can kick your butt. We did it up Blueberry Ledge Tr. & across toward Passaconaway last year & w/ a foot of new snow, the ridge took a loooong time & it was getting dark & we were tired & I wanted Passaconaway, being the last day of Winter! But had to be talked out of it, which was the right thing to do. So........... Know how you feel. It's still there and you'll get it. I will too!
