I'm from the Adks but thinking of doing some backcountry skiing in VT this week. In VT, two trips that interest me are the Teardrop and the Skyline trails. Can anyone tell me what conditions are like on these trails and other places after the recent rain? If conditions are not good, are they any better in NH?

Based on the snow report from MRG which is closeby, I say conditions are marginal at best. NH isn't going to be any better in the backcountry. Hope for snow later in the week.

I'd heard that northern vt, nh, me had received over 10 feet of new snow the week prior to Christmas! Don't know about the rain the day after x mas, but a friend that had skied Gore on the 26th just told me they didn't get any rain up there. It sure rained in LGNY.

Doesn't look great

We've had rain and then lots of warm sunshine today. I checked Trapp's (Stowe) Nordic report. They list 3-4 inches last night, but I'm guessing that was up high. Their trails where marginal on Sat when I was there and since they are not tracking them, I think conditions would not be good lower down in the woods. The woods, except up real high, are still thin and very wet. Outlook for the rest of the week are very depressing also (more warm weather and some rain).
