Ok, everyone hikes at a different pace, but I was just wondering if someone could give me a ballpark estimate of how long it would take to hike up Battell Trail, north on the Long Trail over Abraham and Ellen, and then down the Jeruselum Trail.

And also if anyone had a ball park on hiking South to North on the Long Trail from Lincoln Gap to ------- Gap?, whichever gap is next after Ellen, I think it is route 117...

Sorry, don't have that map with me here at work... :(

Thinking of getting over to Vermont in the next few weeks and have not hiked either of these yet.

Thanks!

You are looking for Appalachian Gap.

Being old and very slow and not willing to be laughed at, I would not dare offer any hiking times.

No map with me at work either, but I've done some of what you describe as well as a bunch of LT sections and I find that hiking in VT is somewhat faster for me (10% or so) than similar mileage/elevation in NH/ME, as many of the trails tend to be a bit smoother. Mt Mansfield area NOT included.
I hazarded a guess as to how much time that section would take me, then I decided it would be useless for you. It's a reasonable dayhike, not a half day but not a deathmarch either.

We did the Lincoln Gap to App Gap Monroe Skyline traverse in just over 9 hours.

(technically 9:20, but we started a little below Lincoln Gap due to snow conditions on the road)

I think 5 or 6 hours would do it, and allow for a bit of lounging around on the observation deck near Ellen. I think this one is about 7 miles.

As Grumpy said, the Gap to the north is App Gap.

This is about 11 miles, and I'd give yourself about 8 hours. You'll want a couple of cars/drivers to do this run, as thumbing a ride from one point to the other is tough. Not a lot of folks go up Lincoln Gap, although App Gap is well-traveled.

I did the hike hung over/a little bit altered still, i think it took 8 hours or so. I cannot really remember. It is an easy hike in a normal state, less than 3,000 vertical if i recall over around 11 miles or so. I recommend doing the hike sober.

Going Northbound from Gap to Gap is not a difficult hike, one of our party was ill that day so we took it slow and still finished under ten hours with lots of time for breaks.

<edited to say> Ooops! Just saw Michael's post. ;)

When I hiked the LT Northbound last year, I took about 8.5 hours to get from Lincoln Gap to Appalachian Gap. I'm not a very fast hiker. Book time is about 7.5 hours (extrapolating from the LT End to End guide's shelter to shelter times - which, for this stretch of the LT is a more demanding pace than book time is for most of the White Mountains).

My account for that streatch is at: http://www.trailjournals.com/entry.cfm?id=203005
