Friday may 30th I went hiking on the presi and my goal of the day was
to summit Adams,Jefferson-Clay for my personnel list of 5k.

I start at noon from Appalachia folowing the Air line trail. I had a slow
start but going up I was better and above treeline the views was
very impressive in the ravine. Usually I follow Valley way to reach the
ridge and I preffer the Air line.

At 3:00 pm I was on the summit of Adams and I went down to
Thunderstorn junction. The sky was clear and lots of sun. I continued
to edmund col and Jefferson-clay. At 6:00 pm was on the summit of Clay on
happy to had completed my list of 5k for may (NY,Nh + clay).

From Clay I continued to mt washington and at 7:00 pm I was on the
summit and no tourist nor hiker. the summit for myself. I went down and
I went to Ball crag-Nelson crag. Since I don't want to hike up again I went
and that I was close to been dark I went down following the Auto road.

At 10:20 pm I was at the highway 2 and my plan was to reach Pinham B road
and return to Appalachia. At 11:15 I was so tired that I stop at one picnick area near Dolly camp and rest for 3 hours in my bivybag. At 2:00 am I wake
up and continued. I don't know how but I missed the Pinham B road and
walk all the way to Gorham and in direction to HW 2. Around 3-4 miles before
Appalachia I had a lift to my van and it save me another 2 hours in the rain.
At 6:15 I was back at my van. 15 hours of hiking and walking on the side
of the road. It was the first time that I walk on a road longer than the
hike..... :) :) :)

Some one had a better way to return to Appalachia without reclimb all
the summits?

Wow that's a big day!!! I don't have any better route on how to get back to appalachia from there, however last fall we did a loop up the great gulf that got the same peaks and you can drive over pinkham B. We took the old Adams slide trail to Adams, but similarly you could probaby use the Madison Gulf Trail or the Buttress Trail. Then loop around over Jefferson, Clay and Washington. We used the great gulf trail to get back down, but there are other options such as the autoroad to Chandler Brook or all the way down to Madison Gulf then back out to the great gulf trail. It still takes a while but there is no road march....just bring a headlamp...

You could also return from Washington to Edmands Col on Gulfside Tr. Trails lead from there to Appalachia. Of course, you might have to hike a bit of the way out in the dark...

Thanks, I just don't went back to Edmonds Col....Appalachia because it
was already 7:00 pm and that the rain was coming soon. Its not fun to
be in the dark and in the rain on Gulfside tr.

Wow, that's a full day!! I prefer the Airline Trail too. It's beautiful.
