Trail Conditions: Dusting of snow at Sawyer River Road trailhead. Sawyer River Road still open. Bushwhacked from road to avoid first Carrigain Brook crossing which would have been difficult. Some ice on wet sections of Signal Ridge Trail, easily avoided. Crossed Carrigain Brook using Signal Ridge Trail crossing, straightforward on logs and branches, poles useful here. Bushwhack from Carrigain Notch trail mostly not too thick although there were some very steep sections. I found a good hurd path about half way up (~3000') that took me to the talus field then right up to the cannister. No ice on bushwhack, 2 to 4 inches snow at the summit.
Special Equipment Required: Carried microspikes, didn't use them. Pole handy. Fierce winds although I was mostly sheltered. Winter hike.
