Comments:
A freshly broken snowshoe track about a mile up the Starr King Trail, then we broke trail the rest of the day to South Weeks. Main objective of the day was Waumbek for W#38, then a loosely defined goal to head out to the Weeks, covering as much trail breaking as we could till the turn around time of 2:30pm.
We took our time past Waumbek, enjoying the amazing woods and finding our way blaze by blaze until we dropped down towards the col, where the blazes temporarily disappeared and then reappeared again. A few very deep spruce traps were encountered, inspiring us to develop a concept screenplay titled
"The Kilkenny Ridge Project". We reached the summit of South Weeks approximately 2pm and spent a few moments enjoying the quiet stillness of the Kilkenny before heading back.
Due to concerns of potentially deep trailbreaking today, both Terra and Madison the Traildoggies stayed home today.
Returned to Waumbek to find a substantially packed trail has formed, as expected. Back at the cars just at dark and headed to the Irving for the best pizza in the North Country!
Great day in the woods with Tim C and Eric -- thanks guys for indulging me in another one of my silly ideas!
