Water on the Slide-Cornell-Witt trail?

Doc, I did a quick hike up Slide from the west today. I went down to the spring 0.2 miles east of and 300' below the Slide summit - towards Cornell. There is a steady flow of water from the pipe. The spring is just north of the trail - you will hear the water and see it in running into the main trail. If you are doing the loop there is also a steady flow of water at the pipe spring on the East Branch trail 0.1 mile north of the end of the Witt-Slide trail.

The Catskills were generally dry through mid-July. More normal rains have returned over the last month. In general you will find the Catskill trails dry with just a little mud - the kind where you boots only sink in about 2-3 inches. From the amount of water running in the small streams and occasionally on the trails you should have no trouble finding water at any of the springs shown on the map.

Thanks Mark! I was supposed to be heading up that same trail today, but my friend from NYC called at 5:30 to bail because he wasn't feeling great. We are shooting for next week, but I'm sure conditions will be the same.

Funny, I ended up going the opposite direction on a whim and climbed Mansfield. Great day to be out!!!

Oh yeah... Do you filter the water coming from the pipe? Or is it nature-filtered spring water. I guess up that high it should be fine. I've been drinking from the high springs in the Adirondacks this summer straight from the spigot.
