Waterville Valley restaurants

Hope this is within the scope of this forum... (if not then am not sure who to ask )

I'm looking for feedback on food in close proximity to Rt 49, for the next time I go hiking Welch/Dickey or Sandwich Dome; I found the Chamber of Commerce site but would like to hear people's experiences.

Hhmmm....I'll resist giving myself a free plug here...

My personal favorites are:

A Big #1. Mad River Tavern, Rt. 49 west of 175: Consistently good food. Very popular on weekends. Try to sit in the bar along the wall with the booths if you don't mind a little smoke to order off the reasonably priced pub menu. Staff/owners used to smelly hikers that haven't showered. Closed Tuesday. Wednesday is Mexican Night!

2. William Tell, Rt. 49, east of 175. For a big celebration only -- Quite pricey, but incredible food. Pre-showering required, even in the bar.

3. The Sticks, Rt. 49, just off I-93 (New, but personally experienced): Breakfast - good, fast, reasonable. Very friendly owners/staff.

another BIG vote for Mad River Tavern.

also, consider the trek to Lincoln for the Woodstock Inn....well worth the mileage.
