Trails: Starr King to Waumbek and Hale Brook to Hale
Starr King had a small patch of snow just below the summit with a few small snow patches above the spring. Everything was easy to walk beside on bare ground.
Over to Waumbek there was a very small section of rail. Again, everything easy to walk around on bare ground. All the snow is gone in the woods. No traction needed. In a few days all traces of snow and rail will be gone.
Hale Brook was dry and clear to about 3600 ft. where there were some sections of rail. But, again all were easy to navigate around on bare ground. No traction needed, but poles are always helpful. All traces of rail will be gone by the weekend. A few blowdowns, but nothing bad.
A perfect day for hiking today, warm and mostly sunny and no wind.
Nice talking with members of the "Over the Hill Gang" on the Starr King Tr., Sharon, Ellen, and Claude. I hope I got that right.
