Trail Conditions:
Do something else if you were thinking of Welch in the next couple days. Got to the first outlook (about a mile from the trail head) The approach to it was iced up with a coating of snow (no real surprise there.) 95% of the clear outlook area was like an ice skating rink. Good place for crampons, but you would only have to take them off after a couple hundred feet. Wind gusts at this low elevation level were around 60 mph! Can't imagine what the 4000 ft + peaks were like Saturday.
