We were the first car to pull into the lot today. There were 35 cars in the lot when we left, yet we saw only three people which would seem to indicate that almost everyone takes the loop in a counter clockwise direction.
The one stream crossing going up Welsh was easily done. There are a few patches of mud lower down on Welsh but they're fairly easily passed. There were about three blow downs each on the lower sections of Welsh and Dickey. All of them were easily stepped over.
There is no snow at all on those mountains and only three very small patches of ice on the ledgy section of Dickey that were easily passed.
The ledges were mostly dry and the few wet sections we were able to get across without any problems.
We also took the side trip to the south ledges off the Dickey summit. There are a few cairns and some fairly recently placed branches to indicate the trail. There was plenty of water here and there for dogie drinks.
The temps today were very comfortable mostly between 40* and 50* in the morning. It was great leaving the winter clothes home and enjoying a true spring hike.
