I hiked dry brook ridge in the northern catskills yesterday and saw this near the village of Margaretteville. Anybody know what is it?

It was about 400 feet from the trailhead.

Looks like a shooting bench. Were there targets in front of it?

definately a shooting bench rest for sighting in, generally that would be for a higher power rifle with scope. might want to make a mental note of the "down range" direction and avoid it.
