Somebody on ListsofJohn Forum decided to determine the most mountainous states by dividing the # of 300' col peaks by the state area, look who's near the top:

Peaks Area Pks/sqMi
WA 5689 66582 0.08544
VT 733 9249 0.07925
NH 648 8969 0.07225
CA 10983 155973 0.07042
ID 5723 82751 0.06916

Of course LoJ is still missing a few states like Iowa and Louisiana which could change the rankings :)

while I understand the premis of the list and wont dispute the facts, standing on a 14er in CO would lead you to dissagree . The fact does remain that there is alot of flatlands in CO, I lived in colorado springs and sometimes we where under tonado warnings due to our proximaty to the eastern plains of CO.
