The NH historical Society in Concord, NH has an exhibit of paintings of the White Mountains from the mid 1850's to 1900.
I went down to the exhibit and really enjoyed it. Most of the paintings were of my perennial favorite mountains, Washington, Lafayette, Chocorua, but with interesting perspectives. For example it was refreshing to see Lafayette, Eagle Cliff, and Echo Lake from Artists Bluff with no highway cutting through, or sightseers standing on the roof of the tip-top house for better views.
It was not a huge exhibit, but it was enjoyable and you also have options to go see some other interesting bits of NH History.
I highly recommend it for anyone who has some interest in the Whites, especially if you are the type that relishes reading about the lore of days gone past in the mountains.
