5/4/13 - Saturday
Beautiful day to be in the mountains. Trail almost uniformly dry up to about 3200'. After that still a fair amount of snow with areas of refreeze that were glare ice. Traction highly recommended. There was a balance beam width monorail that supported my 162 lbs, but I could see where other larger hikers had sunk - so gaiters highly recommended as well. No need for snowshoes. The only water crossing, right at the end, had a large, conveniently placed birch tree that had fallen across and could be used as a bridge if your balance is good. No bugs.
