Decided to spend a few hrs. on my home trail on this wonderful Christmas Day. I've been up this trail 7 times so far this winter season, since it's practically in my back yard. Today there were very difficult snow conditions. I broke though at least a foot of new snow and some of the drifts were over my knees. What made it most difficult was the thin crust on top of the very dense snow. I post holed all the way up as if I didn't have snow shoes on. I had a turn around time so only made it just past the Esther junction. Use caution with the holes and hopefully true winter will return soon.
