Skied the highway on Sat. morning, very cold and windy, fairly decent track set by previous skiers. Most of the way, it was a few inches of powder on top of a nice firm base. Deep drifts and almost bare spots in a few of the exposed places. The Lake Placid turn had everything from bare pavement to 4 ft. drifts. Skied to the end of road and returned, too windy to summit. Nice glide much of the way down, but depending on wind direction and drifts, had to kick and glide and pole to keep mementum. Approx. 2 hrs. up, less than an hour down. Used a light backcountry set up.
