Trail was well packed out to the top. Hard and icy from recent rain/re-freeze. I barebooted until the first ascenting section, then switched to MSR's - mostly for traction. Crampons would work well too. On the way down the snow had loosened to the point where snowshoes were required to prevent postholing. 4-5 feet of snow at the top forced put us into the branches, but it wasn't too bad. Several blowdowns could be circumnavigated. VFTT? Spectacular, clear, brilliant day with no wind.
Great hike to get in before the storm.
Equipment: Snowshoes and some kind of traction. Sunglasses!
