Four of us set off yesterday from Woodland Valley and completed the loop in about 12 hours. Having hiked this before I knew of the challenge but had 3 friends who were doing it for the first time. Temperatures in the 70s with very high humidity. Hot, sweaty from the beginning. Trail was wet for most of the day making the scrambles sort of dicey. Trekking poles probably prevented many slips and falls. Used a rope left by other hikers to hoist packs up the Cornell Crack. Black flies a nuisance but mostly confined to higher elevations. Used head nets and spray. Finished with headlamps just after dark. Great day. Tired feet.
