I would highly recommend waterproof boots and gaiters for the river crossing, or else use Lost Pond trail. Smaller dogs need to like getting wet. Trail is in pretty good shape. Trail up through the last notch overlook section dry. Spot snow to E. Trail between E and D has large stretches of snow but it is either compressed or avoidable, so not a problem. Traction gear not required. Crowds at D.
