Polecat Trail is the same as described on 11/20.Some snow & ice but ice patches easily avoided. Didn't need stabilizers.
Very COLD & Windy day. Snow flurries most of the morning. I wore bacalva all morning plus the hood of a warm jacket. I wore Koflach boots which kept my feet quite warm.
Okay, again trying to do Wildcat D & A. Either I've done something wrong in a previous life or my sense of direction is terrible! I got to the summit, saw the sign that said Pinkham Notch to right and Carter Notch to left. Where was the trail?? I went up the ?observatory thinking the trail would be there. No markings. I hiked about 10 minutes on what I thought might be a trail but not sure, so back to the ski house. Didn't see a trail there either, so turned back. I will persevere.
