Trail Conditions: Lots and lots of snow, almost all of the trail unpacked with 2-4ft of poweder
Special Equipment Required: Snowshoes, microspikes
Comments: Trailhead was unplowed so we parked at pinkham notch and hiked the lost pond trail which was packed except for some drifts from the high winds. Started hiking on the wildcat ridge trail and it quickly became steep unpacked powder which was very hard to get through. Snowshoes had to be removed for some steep sections. We stopped at the top of a steep bald just before E peak with a beautiful view and decided not to continue as it had taken us 2.5 hours to go less than two miles. The way down took less than an hour with some fun butt sliding sections. As they say, it's about the smiles, not the miles but I likely won't ever hike this trail section in the winter and wouldn't recommend it.
