Wildcat Ridge from Rt. 16

Anyone know what the trail is like right now. Planning on hiking it next weekend from Rt. 16 to Carter Hut. Also how is crossing the Ellis there?? Is it safer to start at Pinkham Notch and take the Lost Pond Trail?? Thanks Nancy

It will probably take longer than you think. Leave yourself plenty of time. Crampons will probably be needed, maybe snowshoes (although I haven't been there recently). Have fun!

I haven't been there recently, but given the rate at which things are melting out and my past experiences with trying to cross the Ellis river , my guess is it's impassable. Take the little bit of extra time and do the lost pond route. Besides, it's a very nice walk!
