Date of Hike: 5/11/10
Trail Conditions: Snow and ice in cols, monorail up to about 4 feet max. Some mud and melting snow. Two or three minor post-holes noted.
Special Equipment Required: Traction essential - micro spikes worked fine. I'm unsure as to whether crampons or micro-spikes managed better, crampons had the advantage at some points, spikes at others. Snow-shoes would be a disadvantage (all four carried, but did not use)
Comments: Had originally discussed a loop. Our trip planner - who completed his 48 on Wildcat D - chose the out and back due to reports of difficult condition on the slide. However, southbound hikers who came via the slide they had managed the slide in bare boots.
