Up Avalon Trail which was well broken out. Past Avalon, we had to break trail up to Field and for the rest of the day till we reached the Kedron Flume Trail. From Field to Willey, the route had drifts and was difficult to follow in places so you may see places where we went a bit awry but nothing over about 50 yards. About 7 feet of snow on summits, blazes buried. Very icy near the now buried ladders on the Willey Range Trail. I wore my Sherpas the whole day and did okay, but Jeff used crampons the first half mile off Willey and found it easier. If you get off the track at all you will quickly find out how deep the snow really is!
Equipment: snowshoes and crampons. There is a very icy crust under the fresh snow.
Comments: Awesome day- first hike on my new bionic knee which did perfectly- don't put off a knee replacement if you need one!!!!
