If I'm there by suppertime I'll be happy to do a food run.

Of course, I like what Audrey's saying about the wenches in leather! :D (Aren't those the things you have on the front of your truck to help pull you out of the mud???) ;)

New Gift Card rule.

bubba,

You asked for the number on the back of the gift card. It's 1-800-558-5663.
Does that help?

New tie-breaker rule: There is a PIN number on the back of the card. In case of a tie, the one who guesses closest to the PIN number will be the winner.

So Mr. Unfrozencaveman, you hike, you have no TV and you are willing to host a slew of people at your house, you sound PERFECT!

Could you give me a ballpark on time it takes to get to your house from Dartmouth? Unfortunately I know all too well how long it takes me to get there! (But, I have been know to drive there while still sleeping...)

Pizza and wings sounds good to me for Friday night.

Pizza and wings sounds good. Maddi and I will be there not to late. I think we are doing Mansfield on the way down on Friday.

We are bringing breakfast-anyone like pancakes? Steve, got any of that killer VT maple syrup?

I've been listening to 105.3, the peak, and they've been saying that VT got about 6" of snowfall last night.

Considering the light snow cover and the fact that I ski K & P religiously, I believe Okemo would be my choice for Saturday, if there's a trail up it, which I'm pretty sure there would be. I just don't have a clue where the trailhead is?

It's close to Steve's place & it has excellent snow making.

I'm sticking to my K & P plan for Sunday.

Bubba, You & anyone else is more than welcome to join me!

KenG - there is indeed a trail up Okemo. I have the directions at home in Jared Gange's "Hiker's Guide to the Mountains of VT" so I'll try to remember to PM them to you tonight.

I'm virtually certain I want to ski Okemo on Saturday. They look to have the best conditions next to K-P, if not better.

are you looking for the Healdville trail?

go north on 103 past Ludlow, past Okemo. turn left after Wright Construction, there's a parking lot on the left after the railroad tracks.

Gps?

If anyone attending this event knows a lot about GPS' and their use and wouldn't mind giving a 'newbie' some help, I would sure appreciate it. ;)
I will attempt to load in the maps for the hikes I am planning on.

MJ: That would be great! Though If you intend to go up Okemo on Saturday maybe you should bring the book with you as well?

SteveHiker: I have no idea what the Healdville trail is, I just assumed there was a trail up Okemo. I think we got it covered though, thanx!

Oh, my... I have too many to "quote"...

Okemo sounds like fun - but I just looked at their site - wow $72 for skiing with more trails closed than open... and I'm sitting here with a voucher good for Am Ski Company. I'm thinking this one over...

Mad Townie - you still hiking on Saturday?? Mt Ellen?? What else planned for Saturday?? Steve is there now snow enough for B/C-X/C outings??

I'm fine with Pizza and Wings... should I bring the wings with me from Bflo?? ;) (don't make me admit that I'M KIDDING!!)

Leather Apron's - the one I held is in teejay's hands and Audrey or some others will look much better than tj (hey...) LittleBear also owns her OWN leather apron :( but what the heck - great smile to go with that apron!! Someone (before another gathering) warned of her ability to turn Beeatchy enough to wear a leather apron... I think we have it covered. We could easily have tryouts Friday eve...

LOL thinking of the BBQ and your daughter and UFC!! :D

Snow? what snow?

Well, I'm not Steve, but I live about 1 diagonal inch from him on the VT Gazetteer (about 20 minutes drive) and we ain't got no snow. I don't know where in VT they got 6" as reported by someone on this thread. Maybe at some of the ski places. I can't imagine there is enough snow for b/c or x/c skiing nearby. But, maybe I'm wrong. It's happened before.

This morning I heard on the news that some couple had bought some snow from Colorado on ebay....maybe the ski areas are having some shipped in too ? :) :)

Christine, if I remember I'll bring my GPS too...maybe DougPaul can give us a lesson on how to use them?

Bubba, I've pretty much decided to switch to Killington. As you know, I'm from Maine, and we don't know a whole lot of Vermont geography over here. I just figured it was a small state, so how far away could Ellen/Abe be from UFC's. Well, now that I know it will take about 2 hours to get from the trailhead back to the house, I figure there won't be enough time to do all that and still start playing music with the Bluffs at 7. Killington's a lot closer (an hour away?) and a shorter hike, from what I can tell.

That's Saturday. Don't know what I'm doing on Sunday, but we're playing Sunday night, too.

Walk on! and Rock on!

Who Me? I don't know nuttin.

I'm happy to answer any questions if I am there. I'll even bring my 60CSx with maps installed.

Unfortuantely, my ability to attend is currently in doubt--a minor bug decided to bite me. I think I am on the mend and will be by if I am feeling up to it.

BTW, I noticed that UFC hasn't posted the coordinates of his driveway entrance... How does he expect us lazy over-instrumented bums to find the place? :)

Thanks, I already have that printed out and have paper maps etc.

And yes, I strained my eyes and brain, read the map, and put a waypoint in my GPS at his approximate location. (correct road--just don't know exactly where his driveway is). Also easliy obtained from Google Maps and transferred to topozone to get a lat and lon.

So this lazy, over-instrumented bum will be able to find UFC's place without having to read the road signs. (Ain't auto-routing great? At least when it doesn't take you via the "scenic" route. :) )

I look at Killington all day long out my window at work, ain't no new snow!
We had a brief flurry yesterday but no accumulation.

Mad Townie: from UFC's you can be a the Bucklin Trail to Killington in 45 mins to 1 hr, about 45 mins to the Sherbourne Pass trailhead for Pico on Rt 4 across from the Inn at Long Trail. IMHO, taking the Sherbourne Pass Trail over across Pico to the LT Jct and up Killington is a much nicer hike that taking the LT/AT proper up and down Killington from Rt 4. Easy enough to bag Killington and Pico along that trail, total mileage about 14 miles roundtrip for both. The Bucklin Trail is 3.5 miles each way to the summit of Killington and is a nice trail, not to rugged, through pretty woods. The road its on, Wheelerville Rd, is a 8 mile long dirt road that is also a great walk/run/bike ride and generally just enjoy the local scenery and greenery (no snow here).

FWIW, I'm not a skiier but have coworkers who are and the word to the wise this week is that Okemo's trails are very icy and crappy and Killington has the best runs going in Central VT. Repeat, I am not a dowhill skiier so.....

Niether area is reducing prices for lack of runs but if you go to Killington after 11am they will knock $10 bucks off the lift ticket.

Bubba, howsa bout you bring down some chicken speedies!!!!! :D

Pizza and Wings -- is there a place you like in Ludlow, UFC?? My favorite pizza around comes from Ramunto's in Rutland. Do they have a shop in Ludlow?? Should we take a head count and get an order in early in the day as not to overwhelm them?

S

PS put me down for one slice and four wings.
