Laurie and I are giving a Winter Preparation class in Arkville, NY, at the Catskill Center for Conservation and Development. The date is December 7th, from 6:30 to 8:30 PM. The Center's address is 43355 State Highway 28, which is 1 building to the West of the Fire House.
Approximate location
Resume: We've done all the Catskill peaks twice (or more) in Winter, as well as the North East 4000'ers in Winter.
We'll be talking about what gear to bring on a Catskill Winter hike, (and what NOT to bring), as well as how to prepare for such a hike in advance. Most of the discussion will be applicable to any Winter hike in the North East.
This will be a hands on, interactive class. We encourage you to bring your gear to the class, and we will discuss the uses of each piece of gear.
This would be a good way to prepare for the Catskill 3500 Club's Winter Weekend, which is the weekend of January 24th. (Details on that are being ironed out).
At this point, we have plenty of room, but please let us know if you plan to attend.
