Hi folks, this is my monthly or so check-in (!) with you all who live and ski in the area.

Is there any place that has XC-skiable snow? Lincoln Woods trail/Wilderness loop--enough/any cover? I see that Waterville Valley nordic trails are basically closed, so I don't hold out much hope.

I'm hoping that the rain we're getting down in Cambridge in the next few days becomeis snow up north.

We were on the Wildnerness trail from Lincoln Woods today - although we did see 3 people on skis, ice skates would have been better. Until they get some snow it's not worth your time.

We also were on the road to Garfield yesteday - just bairly enough snow to keep from skiing on dirt, but with warm temps again today, much of that will be gone as well.

Start doing a snow dance!!!

I'm also hoping for some snow soon. The x-c skiing in maine is very limited. Not to go too far off the topic, but i skiied yesterday at Pineland in Gray Maine. It was the first time i had ever been there, and it was real nice. I believe it is the Libra foundation that has put tons of money into the facilities. If anyone is in the area, it's definitely worth checking out. Surprisingly, you could also clearly see Mt Washington looming in the distance from the trails, before the mid-day haze set in. It was very warm though, and i skiied in my shorts and a long sleeve shirt for several hours. The weather melted just about all the snow, so until they get another storm, it's not worth skiing.

thanks folks

I appreciate it! Let us know if things change toward the end of the week. I'll do the snow dance down here too.... ;)

Cheers,

Keep doing the snow dance, please. It's working. We got a few inches of nice wet snow last night (near Waterville). That'll help put a layer on the luge runs that double for trails right now.

Southern VT (Catamount / BC at higher elevations ) HAD great conditions, at least until Sunday... who knows what they will have now.

I hiked up Mt. Pierce yesterday and when I returned to my car in the Crawford Path parking lot there were 2 people putting away their cross country ski's. They skiied down Mt. Clinton rd, which also had snowmobile tracks on it. It was snowing ligthly yesterday afternoon. Hopefully it didn't turn to rain and kept the road snow covered.

snow dance is paying off

And I see in the Waterville Valley "Director's Diary" report that they have 6" of fresh snow with more expected, so they are re-opening many trails. More snow, and stay cold! ;)
