Date of Hike: 5/12/2012
Trail Conditions: Trails mainly dry--still boggy near the beaver ponds on the Zealand trail, but otherwise dry. Not a trace of any lingering snow or ice anywhere on the route.
Special Equipment Required: Poles useful for steeps going down first part of Zeacliff trail and for Twinway down to the hut. No more need to carry microspikes--yay!
Comments: One slightly difficult river crossing on the Zeacliff trail--high water. Head up to the right about 30 yards and you can find some lower levels. Zeacliff trail super steep coming up from the valley. One sheer rock face would be very difficult for children and dogs.
Gorgeous blue sky day. Great Zeacliff views over to snow-capped Washington and high Presidentials.
