Date of Hike: 2009.09.07
Trail Conditions:
Zealand Trail to Ethan Pond Trail - perfect shape, no mud at all.
Ethan Pond to Zeacliff Trail - Perfect shape.
Zeacliff Trail - Great shape. Not nearly as steep as I expected.
Twinway to Zealand - small bits of mud but easily avoidable.
Twinway to Lend-A-Hand - a bit more mud near Zealand Fals but again not an issue. My feet stayed dry for the first time al summer.
Lend-A-Hand - Mud here and there but otherwise clear sailing.
Mt. Hale Trail - Great shape all the way down.
Road walk back to Zealand lot - uphill!
Special Equipment Required:
I used poles but they weren't necessary.
Comments:
I was a bit worried about how a dog would do on Zeacliff as several hikers (of the non-dog owning variety) have told me that a dog could not do the trail. It was really a breeze except for the one big ledge (chest high on me). All it took was a little boost and Sheep was on his way.
This is my first mud-free, dry feet hike since the spring!
