Date of Hike: Tue Mar. 15, 2011
Trails: Zealand Rd., Zealand Trail, Twinway, Bondcliff Tr., Wilderness Tr., Lincoln Woods Trail.
Conditions: Zealand Road was plowed to the Bethlehem Water Facility. Trail to the hut was well packed out. Trail up to Zealand Summit was broken and packed to just near the summit, where it went off the designated trail and somehow ended up at the summit sign. From Zealand Mt. to Mt. Guyot the trail meandered a bit through some overhanging branches, but gets you back on the trail and to the summit. Barebooted to the hut and wore snowshoes to Bondcliff where we switched to spikes. Barebooted from Bondcliff all the way back to Lincoln woods on a solid trail. Lots of hikers on the trails today, so the trails are well packed out. Water crossings are open, but easy to cross. Perfect day for a traverse with warm sun and blue sky. Great day out with Bruce Phendler and Russ Wiggin. Nice meeting and talking with Bobcat and Dustin on the trail today.
