I just drink the whole bottle when I come to a water source, then stuff the empty into my cargo pocket. So no sipping as I go. At my last stop before my campsite I fill & drink, then fill my other bottle(s) and the BeFree so I have 2-3l for cooking & drinking overnight.

But the army study clearly demonstrated that a pound on your feet is not 5 on your back, at least not at hiking speeds. Unless you hike at 6+ mph (which I’ve done more than a few times in the army, with anywhere from 50-75lb on my back and often in ankle-deep sand. But 20km in just under 2 hours...

Probably the same reason some people buy a 4x4, lift it, put mud tires on, then pride themselves on not engaging 4WD until they get stuck. At which point it’s harder to get out because they’ve dug themselves in deeper trying to get out in 2WD.

That’s what I thought . This guy does do some decent reviews of lower-priced gear but in most other ways he’s not very entertaining or informative. He’s one of those who thinks REI prices are way higher than other retailers, for example.
