From the NOAA weather site for the summit of Mt Washington:
Saturday: A chance of snow showers after 1pm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 30. Wind chill values as low as -10. Strong and damaging winds, with a west wind 65 to 70 mph decreasing to between 25 and 30 mph. Winds could gust as high as 90 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.
I saw that Earl wants to leave at 7:30am from the trailhead. The likelyhood of finishing in the dark will be greater. Not that I mind but it's just not my preference. Are you fine with still leaving at 7am from the trailhead knowing we'll see Earl on the trail? If you prefer hiking with him I'm fine with that...I'm just asking
Great! I would like to start around 7am due to lack of daylight. I'm thinking it will take 90 minutes to drive there making this a 5:30am departure time. Do you want to meet me at the Exit 28 Visitor Center at that time to carpool? I can drive.
Thanks for the greenie!
I'm pretty much doing this with map and compass at the moment. That and a camera to take photos of the monuments. I have learned from the previous CM of this section that he never actually visited any of the monuments. He apparently monitored from afar by gazing down along the boundary from various high points in the area. I've only had this section for barely two years and have visited about 40% of my monuments. I also maintain a section of AT within this corridor so I'm sure to visit them all here in the not too distant future. I really like the historical aspect of the whole thing and feel duty bound to locate all of them and restore the boundary to a more respectable and consistent state.
So I have to maintain my weight while you lose yours? I am not at that stable point yet. I am still losing and want to keep doing so. I want to get to about 180 and now I am at 200. I have not been under 200 in like 15 years.
