    How are Trail Signs Made?

AMC probably has someone with a CNC to make them. Super fast and accurate. Looks like the guy in the video was using one.

    Rescue on Mt Monadnock

I have been turned around / confused only three times in the past 20+ years of New England Hiking and two of them happened on Monadnock. The first was when I had very little experience and the other was years later after hiking thousands of miles of trails. One reason it is so easy to get turned...

    Butt sledding haters?

Sledding I am all about sledding on trails. I go slowly, and don't freak anyone out by doing it around them. I sled Tuckermans all of the time. You can do a nice pace without danger if you aren't an ass about it and if it isn't crowded. Webster Jackson loop is also a good one.

Ah, you have to write some songs, I am guessing.

    Coyotes

I was sitting on the Cohos Trail just north of the end of Nash Stream road; I was silently watching a bear eat berries in Cathedral Meadow, and a coyote ran right up to me, maybe ten feet away, saw me and ran into the woods. No problems. The deer snorting by my tent all night was much more...

    The twenty most dangerous hikes.

Angels Landing I was in the park (Zion), riding the Tram, when people got on...looking very very freaked out. They had just watched a man fall from Angles Landing to his death. It was creepy since I hiked it the day before. It is dangerous, yes.

    Lafayette place outhouses blocked off

Yup. I don't much get the 4K craze either. How about just enjoying the outdoors with a bit of challenge? I think I have two peaks left to get my "patch," but I really don't care much. I am probably closer to "redlining" than anything.

Backpacking Thoreau Falls / Shoal Pond

Hi. I am planning on backpacking starting around 1pm or so next Friday and finishing in the afternoon that Sunday. I have never hiked the Thoreau Falls / Shoal Pond trails, so I was thinking of hiking in Ethan Pond trail, doing a loop of both trails with the Wilderness Trail as a link. I could...

A bunch of rescues last weekend

I have never hiked with the AMC, I start late all of the time; totally alone, winter and summer, and I take chances. Isn't that what adventure is all about? The last thing that I would want is for someone to tell me how to spend my time in the woods. Yikes!

    Moosilauke Summit Sign Gone

Ok. I have the sign, ok? It is in a location that I AM NOT going to obviously tell you, but the sign is uncomfortable and it is in a city environment. I CAN say, the elevation is taking a toll. We (my team), occasionally throw ice and spray it with cold water. We take it outside for sun and...
