Do people avoid the Daniel Webster Scout Trail?

My first hiking in the Whites was on the scout trail. We camped at Dolly Copp every Columbus Day weekend when I was a youngster. It was awesome to be able to walk from my tent and reach treeline. In winter if you're looking to check off peaks it's probably not the easiest way. But if you're...

A wise friend suggested alternating two pair of goggles. When one pair fogs up put them in a pocket near your body with a hand warmer.

Proposed fees for Search and Rescue in NH

SAR needs to be accepted as part of the cost of being in the tourist business. Perhaps funding could come from the hefty rooms and meals taxes since that industry profits most from tourism. The state needs to stop trying to pull this money out of thin air.

    FOT48 Jefferson 2010

Last year a string of unforseen circumstances resulted in a one man guerilla-type mission to get our Flag flying atop Mt Adams. Plans this year were drawn up well in advance and continually evolved until the last minute. This resulted in a bold battalion-type assault of Mt Jefferson. The plan...

You may be an elitest, but I love your avatar ;) The damage in that area (as well as the flagging) is from a litter carry during a tropical storm.

    Loon, Loons and more Loons

A couple years back we saw officials counting loon on Umbagog. There was concern about decreased presence in the area. Maybe they like Canada better. Should've known DougPaul speaks "Loon"
