  1. Jabberwalk

    Mt. Deception

There are still remnants of the old trail, but there are also blowdowns everywhere, and we had to clamber up and over quite a bit. Staying to the north side of the col seemed the best way to go. We were easily dissuaded from trying to do the whole ridge over to Dartmouth after reading prior...

    Mt. Deception

Now I know how this peak got its name!! It is quite deceiving! Thanks to Doc Ross and others for their prior TR's which we found very helpful. I met my friend, Hufflepuff, in Twin Mountain and we proceeded to the Old Cherry Mountain Road. We parked at Camp 7 which is about 2.4 miles from Rt...

    Mt. Moosilauke, Aug 30, 2009 -- NH48 finish

Wonderful Trip Report, and wonderful accomplishment for the two of you. Congratulations! :) I am sure that Alex will continue to enjoy the mountains, and who knows where that might take her. And, how will Sage decide to 'top' her sister?? Time will tell. Awesome!

    Jefferson - Adams 8/25/2009

Great photos and TR. I wish I had had those views when I climbed Jefferson a few weeks ago. At least you have shown me the views that I missed!

    Red Hill/Squam Lake Ramble 8/16/09

Cyberpine is my internet service, and I rely on the Red Hill Tower to keep me connected. It's a co-op managed by one parttime, overworked employee, Gunnar Berg. Gunnar is a self-described "half blind, aging Norwegian", or something to that effect.

    Boundary Peak

I also went in from Cupsuptic Pond, and I think I took the 'Canadian Bootleg'. I know that we crossed into Canada (hoping that no one would find out) and traveled by an old logging road that shows on the topo map for that area. It eventually took us to the boundary swath for the last mile of...

A Big Resolution plus a Little Resolution (27-Aug-2009)

South Resolution is now on my 'to do' list! The photos are spectacular, and thanks for including the captions to describe the direction of the shot. Great TR.

    Gore and Bunnell

Monday, 8/24, was SUPPOSED to be fair weather with lots of sunshine. But, my hiking friend, Hufflepuff, and I awoke to pouring rain at the Down Home Motel in 'beautiful' Groveton. I can't recommend much about Groveton, but the Down Home, on Rt. 3, is clean, and well run by Gerry and her...

Tom, Field and Willey with views!

I was up on Tom and Field on Tuesday and met a group from OTHH on Mt. Willard, which was my warm up. I was pleasantly surprised by how few people there were up at the 4,000 foot level. Most of the hikers seemed to stay low down on Willard. I'll catch you next time, Mark. Betsy

    Whitecap and N Kennabago

Hey, Bigfoot, I hardly recognized you! Did you loose your razor?? :D Congrats on the Maine bushwacks. It always rains in Maine, or is that Spain? You are in good company over there.

    Bondcliff Trail/Guyot Peak

It took me a while to figure out "Brosnan". . . . .That's good. How is your ankle coming along? I assume you are off crutches by now and into some serious PT. When can you get back to some light hiking?

    Bondcliff Trail/Guyot Peak

I was recently sorting through my hiking photos and came across a terrific one, from an outstanding hike to an unnamed peak. Here is the link: I think the peaks are, from left to right: Bemis, Nancy, Anderson, Lowell, Vose Spur, and Carrigain (Please correct me if I am wrong) This peak is...

I was sorting through my photos recently and came across one that I just love: http://outdoors.webshots.com/photo/2868742430104319334lLISuQ This is taken from the wonderful unnamed peak on Bondcliff Trail .8 mile south of the Twinway junction. My hiking friend, Hufflepuff, and I set out for...

2 August 2009: Nancy via Nancy Pond Tr., herdpath, North Conway memorial

Thanks for posting your story, and good luck with the recovery. I am very impressed with the amount of first aid equipment the three of you had. The foam pad seemed like it was key to your being able to hobble out on your own, with help. I always carry some tape, but not webbing or cord. I...

Lots of visitors - but I did climb into the clouds yesterday to visit Mt. Jefferson. I tried to do a trip report, but it 'disappeared' into cyberspace.

Mt. Jeff the hard way (down) 8/10

Since this was the only day this week that I could devote to an all day hike, I set out for the Jefferson Notch Road to climb Mt. Jefferson by the Caps Ridge trail, and a potential loop via the Castle Ridge and Link trail. The route up the Caps Ridge was uneventful, except for the fact that...
