    PolarTec/Malden Mills had a factory store in Methuen MA. In their seconds bins were hats and jackets from Bean's, Turtle Fur, and Patagonia. I imagine Malden Mills fleeces are used by more brands than we can imagine.

    The rolling rez system works on a four month window. On 1/15 you can make reservations for 5/15, the opening day of the overnight camping season.     re Hi-Cannon re Hi-Cannon - going up from Lafayette the sign is still missing, a temp AMC sign is at the junction, but doesn't mention Hi-Cannon. For a first winter shakedown hike, a summit isn't necessary. A trip up to Lonesome Lake Hut might be a good idea.

    The failed re-establishment of caribou included helicoptering some to Katahdin's tableland. From which they disappeared. The running joke was that they were delicious.
