Black Flies Around Moosilauke?

Thinking of hiking Moosilauke this Saturday to celebrate Father's Day and Summer Solstice Eve. Any recent reports on black fly activity in the area? My sons are plagued by them. Wondering if finding a different summit with less running water might be a better plan.

Also, is it OK to park at the Moosilauke Ravine Lodge for a day hike?

Yes, that's the official parking for all the trails on that side of the mountain. You can also park overnight there. No parking pass is needed.
