    Poll: Blaze Removal in Wilderness

You are wrong :D. Well, not sure about the written Wilderness rules and regulations, But a section of Davis Path approaching Glen Boulder trail junction is within the Dry River Wilderness and is above treeline. Exhibit A.

Alright! Way to go Greg and Jason, can't wait to join you guys on your 48th. If you and WSC doing the 48th together, we can have a mini traverse from Adams to Jefferson :D! Nice pictures. So good to see Greg.

How did you celebrate your 48th?

I finished my on Mt Carrigain, alone... with mild hang over (long story...) I celebrated it by hiking my first ADK 46ers the next week. WSC, no gas station champagne for you, I'll be prepared this time :o.

    Poll: Blaze Removal in Wilderness

That's a good point. Is AMC and other map printers going to remove the trails or marked it differently on the maps? To paraphrase someone from a different thread on this same subject, removing the blazes is not going to enhance your "wilderness" experience in the Whites.

Mount Baker via Easton Glacier - July 2007

Wow, Baker is one good looking mountain. My friend Tom (who lives in Seattle) was just bragging to me that he and his son are thinking about doing Baker, but they'll decided when they wake up tomorrow. They have the Cascade in their backyard. Great pictures, you guys are real hard core!

    Mt Rainier - Take 2

Thanks for reading my report/pictures, really glad you enjoy them. Although we didn't make it to the summit, I did feel good about the climb. I felt I have improved since last year and that's important to me too. Giggy, I've only been up to Ingraham Flat on the DC route, so I can't compare the...

    Mt Rainier - Take 2

.......... Good news was the terrain after the short snow wall was slightly less steep, bad news was it was very very windy after that. We pushed our way against the wind slowly making progress. Somewhere around here 2 RMI groups caught up and passed us one after another. Every big gust of...

    Mt Rainier - Take 2

Since my last failed attempt to climb Rainier, I have been constantly thinking about my next attempt. In February when few friends from the Summit Sensations plan a trip to Rainier this June, I immediately took interest and discussed the plan and people with Tom, and with Tom blessing and...

Small gifts for kids who hike/backpack?

The mother in me would probably get a scrap book for the 5 yrs old, encourage him to start writing simple journal, collect dried-leaf or use pencil to imprint texture of tree barks or signs etc... The kid in me would really really want a whistle :D, binoculors would be nice too. Or a key...

    Two Whiteface Questions

Hi MichaelJ The entrance of the umarked trail to Esther is marked with a big cairn in the middle of the trail, you can hardly miss it. Here is a picture of the cairn I took last month: http://huiyengchang.com/hike/07adk_may/day5/album/slides/IMG_2112.html The rest of the trail to the summit is...

ADK rookie need help identify mountains

Hi, I was at the ADK high peaks region for a week last week and was doing some great (wet and muddy) hikings. As usual I took many pictures but I can't quite identify all of the beautiful mountains by their name. I did my best checking them out with my map, but still have few of them remain...

    Posting 'secret' spots online

I personally has benefited from postings on the web to find some interesting off beat (secret or not) places in the Whites. I thank them and look forward for more of such great information. Sure in the Google age everything is few searches and clicks away, but what's wrong for people who have...
