Best restaurant for post-hike dinner in Whites

Not sure if it has been mentioned elsewhere, but Brenda's Kitchen & Skeet's Pub has moved locations and has taken over the old Shakespeare's location. They have made the bar area larger, added a pool table, and doors to the dining area to cut down on noise. The menu is slowy being expanded, and...

    Recommended Shorter Winter Hikes?

Glencliff would be our choice for a safer hike this time of year. Osceolas - there was a large group there on Sat, so the trail is well broken out from both sides. The trail to Osceola from Tripoli road side is more gradual than the trail to East Osceola from the Kanc. Both are fun though. As...

    N. Brother - Baxter State Park - 3/17 - 3/19 2011

No to Fort. Although the weather was great, the trail conditions were more like a bushwhack so it took much longer than it should have to reach the summit so we decided it will wait until next year for Fort (& S. Brother and Coe).

    N. Brother - Baxter State Park - 3/17 - 3/19 2011

Made it back to Baxter State Park to end out the 2011 Winter season with a summit of N. Brother. Justin and I had a Blue Bird Day for our summit hike and enjoyed the spectacular views for some time. The "Cozy Cabin" at the Nesowadnehunk campground was great! It is a 35 mile drive and a 6 mile...

    I need some advice.....

You want to mix both zones into your training. Aerobic exercise increases stamina, helps you manage weight and strengthens the heart. Anaerobic exercise is used to build endurance and recovery. Check out this site: http://www.livestrong.com/article/282747-aerobic-anaerobic-heart-rate-zones/

    Late Winter in Baxter?

Just back from a few days at Baxter and glad to report there is still a very lot of snow there! Managed to fall in a few spruce traps that were much deeper than I am tall, leaving me dangling! Currently, the tote road is fairly hard packed/frozen not very good for skiing, but great for a set of...

Where the Hale is the WF Trail?

I see my cardboard cutout services are still needed Tim! Back to FW Trail, we were first ones up one day this winter with some new snow on the ground. Looking for the little tree was key although we still had a few 'is this it?' moments thinking the winter trail may make it not so noticeable...
