Made it back to Baxter State Park to end out the 2011 Winter season with a summit of N. Brother. Justin and I had a Blue Bird Day for our summit hike and enjoyed the spectacular views for some time.

The "Cozy Cabin" at the Nesowadnehunk campground was great! It is a 35 mile drive and a 6 mile ski from Millinocket to get there. Throughout the trip we only saw 2 guys on snowmobiles go by the trailhead as we were changing back to ski boots after the hike - we certainly felt very isolated.

Thanks to Arm and Blue (Liza) for sharing detailed info on directions and info on the Nesowadnehunk campground accomidations.

Can't wait to go back next Winter!!

Trip report and photos are located on our web page:

" ... summit of N. Brother."

Looks like you had optimum conditions! Did you get FORT as well? If not, you'll get to enjoy another trip in there again.

Guess not ... just read your trip report ... nice writeup.

No to Fort. Although the weather was great, the trail conditions were more like a bushwhack so it took much longer than it should have to reach the summit so we decided it will wait until next year for Fort (& S. Brother and Coe).
